SAN ANTONIO – San Antonio ISD board members approved a motion for a pilot program that would bring Bible-infused lessons to some district campuses.
The curriculum, called “Bluebonnet Learning,” was developed by the state and includes Bible stories and references.
Critics argue the material could blur the line between teaching about religion and promoting it. Supporters say biblical literacy helps students better understand history and literature.
The district is expected to receive state funding for adopting the curriculum. Details on what the curriculum will include in practice and which schools will take part in the pilot program have not been released.
