After a “weak cold front” briefly lowered the region’s temperatures, Dallas-Fort Worth is in for another week of sweltering heat.
According to the National Weather Service, Tuesday’s high is expected to be 102 degrees, with a low of 78. The heat index, or “feels like” temperature is also forecast at 102 degrees.
A light breeze is expected during the day as wind gusts reach 15 mph, the weather service said. No rain is expected, and temperatures are expected to be at their highest from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
The weather service is forecasting chances for rain and storms across North Texas beginning Friday and continuing into Saturday.
The D-FW heat index is expected to climb as high as 108 degrees Thursday, as humidity increases later in the week. Forecasters said the added moisture could trigger some heat advisories across parts of North Texas by the second half of the week.
If spending time outside in the heat this week, the weather service encourages individuals to stay weather aware and monitor their symptoms for heat-related illness. Health experts also urge North Texans to stay hydrated, even if you’re not thirsty, and to wear proper sun protection like a hat and sunscreen.
