Multiple North Texas fire agencies continue battling a brush fire Tuesday in Jack County.
The 400-acre fire, named Bear Hallow, was 15% contained shortly after 10:30 p.m. Monday, according to the Texas A&M Forest Service incident map. Jack County is located about 98 miles northwest of Dallas.
According to a Tuesday post on Facebook, the Lufkin Fire Department was deployed through the Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, or TIFMAS, to support response operations alongside crews from Nacogdoches, Smith County, Texarkana and Longview.
TIFMAS is a program maintained by the Texas A&M Forest Service that allows local fire departments to operate across the state during times of need.
The Dallas Morning News contacted Jacksboro Fire Department, TIFMAS coordinators and the Texas A&M Forest Service for an update on the fire’s status but didn’t immediately hear back.
This is a developing story and will be updated.
