SAN ANTONIO — A San Antonio Police Department Academy cadet was hospitalized Tuesday after accidentally shooting himself in the foot, according to officials.
The cadet, a man between 30 and 40 years old, suffered a gunshot wound to his foot after his weapon discharged accidentally, according to SAPD.
Emergency crews responded to the academy and transported the cadet to a local hospital for treatment. Officials said the injury is not considered life-threatening.
SAPD has not released the cadet’s identity. Additional details about how the accidental discharge occurred have not been released.
No other injuries were reported.
