Dallas police are investigating after a shooting Tuesday night in West Dallas led to a person being found submerged inside a vehicle in a nearby lake.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting shortly before 11:30 p.m. in the 2200 block of Singleton Boulevard, Erika Brown, a Dallas police spokeswoman, said.
Investigators determined a person, who wasn’t publicly identified, was shot by an unknown suspect who fled the scene, Brown said.
The person who was shot drove away before crashing into Fish Trap Lake at the intersection of Singleton Boulevard and Fish Trap Road. Dallas Fire-Rescue officials responded to the lake, where the person died, Brown said.
Brown didn’t publicly say what led the person to crash into the lake. It remains unclear whether the person died from a gunshot wound, the crash or a combination of both.
As of Wednesday morning, no arrests have been made.
Police urge anyone with information on the shooting to contact detective Daisy Mendoza at 214-671-4191 or daisy.mendoza@dallaspolice.gov.
