First Thursdays
Downtown Arlington comes alive during First Thursdays on Thursday, Aug. 6 from 5–8 p.m. with an evening of live music, dance, and arts experiences for all ages. Highlights include free dance parties and an open house at Miss Persis Studio of Dance, Theatre Arlington’s Best of Broadway cabaret performances, live street musicians presented by Arlington Amplified, and pop-up classical performances from Symphony Arlington. It’s the perfect opportunity to explore downtown, support local businesses, and experience Arlington’s vibrant arts scene.
Summer Music Series
Enjoy an evening of live local music at the Summer Music Series on Friday, Aug. 7 from 6–8 p.m. at Home Plate Restaurant at Texas Rangers Golf Club. This week’s featured artist, Michael Mangrum, will provide the soundtrack for a relaxing summer night alongside food and drink specials. There is no cover charge, but advanced registration is encouraged by calling (817) 575-8299.
Canines & Coffee
Start your Saturday with fresh coffee and wagging tails at Canines & Coffee on Saturday, Aug. 8 from 9–11 a.m. at Doggie Depot. Bring your four-legged friend to socialize, enjoy coffee from a local Downtown Arlington café, and let your pup explore the city’s newest dog park. The event is free, but attendees are encouraged to RSVP in advance.
Money & Me
Build healthy money habits together at Money and Me on Saturday, Aug. 8 at River Legacy Nature Center. This free, family-friendly event helps parents and children learn practical financial skills through interactive activities, games, and hands-on workshops that make money management fun and approachable. Whether you’re introducing budgeting basics or reinforcing smart spending habits, it’s a great opportunity to learn together as a family.
Sewing Basics: Pen Holder Bookmark
Stitch together a fun and functional project at Sewing Basics: Pen Holder Bookmark on Tuesday, Aug. 11 from 6–8 p.m. at George W. Hawkes Downtown Library. This beginner-friendly workshop will teach participants how to use a sewing machine while creating a handmade pen holder bookmark to take home. All materials are provided, and the class is limited to the first 10 participants, ages 13 and up.
