Taft ISD to give away free backpacks and school supplies at back-to-school event

Families can pick up free backpacks and school supplies while supplies last and access immunizations and community resources.

TAFT, Texas — Families preparing for the new school year will have the chance to receive free backpacks, school supplies and other resources during Taft ISD’s Back-to-School Backpack Event.

The event will be held on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Krause/Crumnow Center on the Taft High School campus, located at 502 Rincon Road. 

Students who have completed registration for the upcoming school year can receive free backpacks and school supplies while supplies last. 

Families will also have access to community vendors and immunizations, available for $15 in cash or through insurance. District officials encourage families to arrive early, as backpacks and school supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.
