A Facebook post from Ohio-based White Castle slider chain announced a third Texas location is planned for Grand Prairie.
Residents were abuzz to hear about White Castle coming to Fort Worth when the news broke just a month ago. The brand has also already broken ground on a restaurant north of Dallas in The Colony.
White Castle is a slider burger chain considered to be the nation’s first fast-food hamburger stand when it opened in Kansas 105 years ago. It has McDonald’s beat by almost 20 years. In 1933, customers could get five sliders for 10 cents.

By the ‘80s, the fast-food joint was so popular, they had sold a billion burgers since opening. In 2004, a hit comedy called “Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle” centered around the restaurant, where two friends get stoned and hit the road to seek out White Castle after seeing the burger on a commercial.
The iconic chain is known for selling 2½-inch square hamburger sliders grilled with chopped onions. But they also serve fried chicken and fried fish. Sides include french fries, mozzarella sticks, onion rings and chicken rings.

White Castle opening in Grand Prairie
There’s not much word about the new White Castle opening in Grand Prairie other than the planned location.
According to the Star-Telegram’s news partners at WFAA, Grand Prairie’s Economic Development department said the restaurant will be located in EpicCentral along State Highway 161.

White Castle in Fort Worth will be at 6013 Retail Way in the Shops at Chisholm Trail Ranch, according to state licensing documents. Construction will start early next year.
The Denton County location in The Colony will open first, as construction began in June. It is located at 5420 Destination Drive at Grandscape. Fox 4 reports that the restaurant is expected to open in late fall of this year.
