SAN ANTONIO – Tx — It’s been two days since the skeletal remains found at Concepcion Park were identified as 7-month-old Ozana Cisneros who was the center of an Amber Alert.
Ozana’s paternal grandmother Christy Rodriguez is sharing her grief and fear over the safety of Ozana’s 3-year-old sister Eliana. She says Eliana is living in the same home as Maximina who authorities found squatting in an abandoned home near the park where Ozana was found.
“My concerns are my son reached out to Petra,” Rodriguez said. “My son’s incarcerated right now. When he called Maxi answered the phone.”
Rodriguez’s son, Anthony Campos, is Ozana and Eliana’s father. Rodriguez says she contacted CPS.
“You’re playing with my grandkid’s life, and it’s not right,” Rodriguez said. “What are they waiting for? For something to happen again and then they’re going to do something. It tears me to pieces.”
The grandmother is wondering why the police have not arrested or filed any charges in Ozana’s death. She is disappointed because SAPD hasn’t kept her in the loop.
“When it comes down to it, we’ve always been cooperative with any questions that they’ve had,” Rodriguez said. “I believe if we gave them 100 percent, they could’ve at least had the decency to acknowledge us.”
Rodriguez says she learned Ozana’s remains were positively identified on the news. Police have not named Maximina or anyone else as a suspect in the case. We reached out to SAPD to ask if they’re close to making an arrest in Ozana’s death, and if they’ve determined how the baby died. We have not heard back. Rodriguez wants answers. She says she is heartbroken and wishes she could hold Ozana one more time.
“I know she is at peace now,” Rodriguez said. “It’s just unexplainable.”
