Tim Hortons is adding to its Austin-area footprint and has earmarked an approximately $750,000 project for Texas’ Capital City, according to project filings registered with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation on Wednesday, August 5. Construction work on the upcoming outpost is tentatively set to begin on October 1, 2026 and conclude on or around January 15, 2027. TDLR filings are preliminary estimates and both timelines and construction costs are subject to change.
The project scope entails renovating approximately 3,107 square feet of an existing building — located at 8756 Research Blvd., Austin, TX 78758 — to transform it into a Tim Hortons cafe. Encompassed in that work is a heavy emphasis on exterior improvements, with those upgrades including repainting the building, replacing the drive-thru menu boards and related equipment as well as adding in new finishes.
Currently, Tim Hortons operates just one Austin coffee shop, located at 16201 N. Ranch Road 620, Austin, TX 78717, as well as offers concessions at the H-E-B Center at Cedar Park.
News of the future coffee shop comes amid the Canadian chain’s rampant expansion plans in and around the Lone Star State. While there are only 13 Tim Hortons locations currently, the chain is already constructing three cafes in San Antonio as well as the Austin suburbs of Leander and Manor.
