LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – Middle and high school students from more than 15 local schools gathered at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) today, Friday, August 7, to explore the healthcare field at the School of Nursing’s camp.
The event, which ran throughout the day with hands-on activities in the morning, offered future nurses a preview of the profession.
Rather than listening to lectures, the students participated in interactive clinical skill simulations.
Life-Saving Skills: Quick-response instruction in CPR and critical “Stop the Bleed” training.Clinical Assessments: Guided practice conducting neonatal checks on infant simulators and performing ultrasounds.Technical Procedures: Hands-on experience practicing IV insertions on clinical simulation arms and learning basic suturing techniques.
This interactive camp is part of the ongoing community initiative to inspire and cultivate the next generation of healthcare professionals, while starting to help engage students early in their educational journeys.
