American Airlines is expanding its partnership with iconic Dallas-based barbecue joint Pecan Lodge to serve meals to premium customers on some flights from DFW International Airport.
Starting Sept. 9, first-class customers on domestic flights that include meal service and are departing from DFW, American’s central hub, will be able to preorder Pecan Lodge’s smoked brisket sandwich for lunch or the restaurant’s barbecue platter for dinner when each is available for preorder.
The journey of the airborne meals begins at Pecan Lodge in Dallas, where the meats are seasoned and slow-smoked “using the same techniques that have earned the restaurant national acclaim,” American said. Then, the barbecue is packaged to preserve flavor and quality, with American’s catering partners preparing preordered entrees for in-flight service, according to the airline.
