SAN ANTONIO – Drivers on Interstate 35 in Northeast San Antonio should plan for overnight lane reductions next week as work continues on the I-35 Northeast Expansion (NEX) Program.
The Texas Department of Transportation said northbound I-35 will be reduced to one lane between North Walters Street and Petroleum Drive nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14, 2026.
Southbound I-35 also will be reduced to one lane between Petroleum Drive and North Walters Street nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., Monday, Aug. 10 through Friday, Aug. 14, 2026.
TxDOT also announced a previously planned ramp closure has been canceled. The northbound I-35 exit ramp to southbound I-410 had been scheduled to close from 9 p.m. Friday, Aug. 7 through 5 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9, 2026.
Motorists should expect delays and plan for additional travel time. TxDOT said all closures are subject to change, weather permitting.
