Five Tarrant County restaurants had low scores and three others had issues with roaches in the latest round of county health inspections.
The report compiled by the Star-Telegram contains data from July 26 through Aug. 1 and 128 inspections.
Tarrant County’s health inspections function on a 100-point scale, where a score of 100 is considered perfect score and a score of 70 is considered extremely poor. The county health department inspects all restaurants in the county except those in Fort Worth, Arlington, Euless and North Richland Hills.
Five food establishments had low scores:
Main Street Tacos, at 108 South Stewart St. in Azle, had a score of 73.Taco Shop Southlake, at 1101 East Texas 114 in Southlake, had a score of 75. The location was cited after inspectors found several temperature-sensitive items being held at incorrect temperatures. Numerous foods were discarded and two coolers required repairs, according to the report.Nagoya, at 828 Boyd Road in Azle, had a score of 77.La Mexicana Meat Market, at 4117 Denton Highway in Haltom City, had a score of 78.Los Albertos Mexican Food, at 804 West Pipeline Road in Hurst, had a score of 78. Inspectors found temperature-sensitive foods held at unsafe temperatures, a blocked hand sink, and an employee washing hands into a warewashing sink, according to the report.
Roaches were found at three locations:
Luby’s 135, at 3312 Southeast Loop 820 in Forest Hill, had a score of 85. Dead roaches were observed behind a dishwasher.Lightwell Senior Living, at 2700 Parkview Lane in Bedford, had a score of 88. Two dead roaches were observed in a storage closet for cleaning products.Sonic Drive-In 1696, at 1421 Brown Trail in Bedford, had a score of 88. Inspectors found seven dead roaches under kitchen equipment and also noted accumulations of mold and rotting food debris, according to the report.
