The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office has launched an investigation after one of its off-duty K-9 was seriously injured in an incident that also wounded an adult.

The adult’s injuries were not life-threatening, Sheriff’s Office spokesperson Cassandra Sebastian said Saturday. The K-9 was taken to a veterinary hospital for evaluation.

“This investigation is in its early stages. Our office will release additional information as it becomes available and as appropriate,” Sebastian said in a statement.
