UPDATE (2:13 PM) — The El Paso Police Department are looking for a driver of a possible silver in color pickup truck, who they say struck a 26-year-old man while the man was changing a tire.
Police say that Saturday, at approximately 2:48 am officers responded to a crash involving a pedestrian at I-10 East and Airway.
The Special Traffic Investigators (STI) unit was called out to assist and police investigation say that the pedestrian was changing a tire. Police investigation reveals that while he was changing the tire a possible silver in color pickup truck struck the man.
Police say the unknown vehicle exited I-10 at the off ramp to Airway and fled the scene.
According to police, the pedestrian was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Officials say that the vehicle that fled the scene is possibly a 2010-2015 silver or gray Chevy pick-up truck Quad cab.
STI is requesting anyone that might have information regarding this incident to call Police (915) 832-4400 or Crime Stoppers.
UPDATE (10:06 AM) — According to the Texas Department of Transportation (TXDOT), all lanes of I-10 East near Airway Blvd. have reopened after being closed for several hours as the El Paso Police Department investigated a pedestrian being hit by car.
According to a spokesman from the El Paso Fire Department (EPFD), the pedestrian was taken to a hospital in unknown condition by someone at the scene.
