BRYAN COUNTY, Oklahoma — An 8-year-old Texas boy was hospitalized Saturday after a near-drowning incident at Lake Texoma, according to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol.

The incident happened about 4 p.m. Aug. 8 in the Willow Springs area of Bryan County.

OHP said the boy, who is from Denison, Texas, jumped into the water without wearing a personal flotation device. He went beneath a dock area and began to panic.

A bystander pulled the boy from the water and began CPR.

Emergency medical crews transported the child to AllianceHealth Durant before he was flown to Children’s Health in Dallas. He was reported in stable condition at the time of the transfer. His current condition was not immediately available.
