HOUSTON — Construction crews have broken ground on an effort to revitalize a retail plaza just outside of Rice Village.
Houston-based Fifth Corner’s redevelopment of the property at 2400 Times Blvd. aims to bring it in line with modern retail expectations while also paying homage to the surrounding neighborhood’s established character.

The company has tapped Austin-based Michael Hsu Office of Architecture to design the project, dubbed Village Corner, with Houston-based CTC Contractors serving as general contractor. The property was previously known as Lamesa Rice Village.
Fifth Corner has tapped Rebel Retail Advisors, which is also based in Houston, to lead leasing efforts for the project.
The goal, Fifth Corner said, is to create a retail center that has a mix of public spaces, boutique stores and restaurant offerings.
Plans for Village Corner include reimagined building façades, expanded patio environments, enhanced pedestrian connectivity and walkability improvements that aim to strengthen the relationship between the project and the adjacent Rice Village.
