Body of Texas man recovered from Lake Texoma days after jumping in to help another person
A Texas man jumped into Lake Texoma to help someone who fell in, but he was separated from the boat in high winds and drowned.
KINGSTON, Okla. —
The body of a 51-year-old Texas man who drowned in Lake Texoma on Friday after jumping into the water to help another passenger was recovered Monday.

At about 5:50 p.m. Friday, nine people from Texas were on a 2022 Crownline boat nine miles south of Kingston, Oklahoma. The boat had just left Buncombe Creek after a storm when it stopped in open water, according to a report from Oklahoma Highway Patrol.
The driver of the boat, who was a 50-year-old man from Blue Ridge, Texas, and another passenger jumped into the water and were hanging on to the back of the vessel. During that time, another passenger fell into the lake, the report said.
One of the passengers, who was identified as 51-year-old Gary Oldfield from Fate, Texas, jumped into the lake to help the person who fell in. Oldfield then became separated from the boat because of high winds.
Oldfield went under the water and did not resurface, according to a report from OHP. His body was recovered on Monday, days after he drowned, according to the report.
Oldfield did not have a life jacket on when he went into the water. Wind speeds were between 29 and 44 mph, according to OHP.
