It’s only been a couple of months since Spread The Loaves Bakery moved into its newer, larger space, and the beloved Helotes bakeshop is already ready to expand once more. Spread The Loaves Market & Deli is a new concept that will soon open about 100 feet away from the bakery.
On August 1, Spread The Loaves Bakery announced on social media that the market and deli will take over its former space at the Shops at Old Town Helotes, with chef Justin Sparkman crafting a number of sandwich creations for the menu. Spread The Loaves Market & Deli will also offer grab-and-go salads, spreads and a selection of meats and cheeses to pair with the bakery’s sourdough breads.
MySA reached out to the Spread The Loaves team and received a joint email response from owner and baker Sophie Jeffery and Sparkman explaining how the bakery and the deli will coexist in their respective, adjacent homes.
“Spread The Loaves Bakery is operating at full capacity in its new, larger facility, and will continue to do so. Spread The Loaves Market & Deli is going into the former space, and is currently undergoing some updates and has a tentative opening date in early fall,” the email response said.
Spread The Loaves Bakery first began as a pop-up founded by Jeffery in 2021. Over time, the business gained traction in local markets and eventually opened its first brick-and-mortar space in 2024. MySA will provide updates when an opening date is available for Spread The Loaves Market & Deli.
