Will Trader Joe’s be headed to a neighborhood in North Texas? At this point, the possibility remains unclear.
The prospect has excited fans in the area who have long hoped for a location closer to northern Fort Worth.
According to a public filing obtained by the Dallas Morning News, the grocery chain applied for an alcohol-related permit in the city for beer and wine. The filing lists the site as “trader joe” and “trader joe’s #414,” located at 9000 N. City Drive.
It’s within the $1 billion,148-acre development in the northern part of Fort Worth, according to WFAA.
But according to Trader Joe’s spokesperson, Nakia Rohde, the company doesn’t have any details regarding a new store in that area.
“We are actively looking at hundreds of neighborhoods across the country, including in Fort Worth, as we hope to open more new neighborhood stores each year,” Rohde told the Dallas Morning News.
Currently, the chain has one location in Fort Worth at 2701 S. Hulen St., which is in the southwestern part of the city.
For now, the company is investing in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
In the broader DFW area, a location headed to Frisco was approved by the Planning and Zoning Commission in July. Another store opened in McKinney, alongside existing plans for a location in Mansfield.
