An 18-year-old man and four juveniles were arrested after they took a photo with a gun on campus, prompting a lockdown at O.D. Wyatt High School in Fort Worth on Monday, police said.
The school was placed on lockdown as a precautionary safety measure while law enforcement assesses the situation, Fort Worth ISD officials said in a news release.
According to a Fort Worth police spokesperson, a student called her parents and told them someone had a gun at school. The parents then called the police.
“As a precaution, school officials implemented a controlled, slow release of students through metal detectors to ensure the continued safety of everyone on campus,” according to police.
Suspect Lucio Garcia, who had the gun in the photo, was placed under arrest, police said in a news release sent shortly before 8 p.m. The gun, however, has not been recovered, police said.
Garcia faces charges of terroristic threat causing impairment of public service/ placing a public servant in fear of serious bodily injury, according to Fort Worth jail records. The investigation remain ongoing.
