According to police, a driver trying to turn left at an intersection collided into the patrol vehicle, causing it to hit another stopped car.
ARLINGTON, Texas — An Arlington police officer and his K9 are recovering with minor injuries after being involved in a multi-vehicle crash Friday evening.
Officials say the Arlington Police Department was notified at about 5:40 p.m. Friday that one of its officers was involved in the crash at the intersection of Cooper Street and Park Row Drive.
Police say the officer was driving southbound on Cooper Street when he turned on his overhead lights and siren to respond to an emergency in another part of the city. But upon entering the intersection, another driver tried turning left onto Cooper Street and crashed into the officer’s car.
The impact of the crash caused the officer’s vehicle to hit another car stopped in the northbound lanes of Cooper Street at the traffic light, police say.
Both the officer and the dog received minor injuries, officials said, but will be OK. The occupants of the other vehicles weren’t injured.
Police are still investigating the crash.
