LUBBOCK, Texas — At the latest Lubbock City Council meeting, the request from the Lubbock Economic Development Alliance, Inc. to annex an area of approximately 7.92 acres of land was approved unanimously on Tuesday afternoon.


Gov. Abbott unveils state initiative for stopping student abuse in Lubbock

The area annexed will be adjacent to the northern city limits of the City of Lubbock, south of Drew Street and West of Interstate 27, into Lubbock’s corporate limit.

On July 14, 2026, the City Council approved a resolution adopting the Municipal Service Plan for the request, which was agreed upon by the City of Lubbock and the property owner. On July 28, 2026, the City Council approved the 1st reading of the ordinance by a vote of 5-1-0.
