The Eagles are looking for improvement in 2026 after not living up to their own standard last season.
CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The Veterans Memorial Eagles are coming off a playoff win, which would be solid for most programs, but most programs aren’t Vets.
Veterans Memorial finished 8-4 last season and third in the district before falling to the eventual state champion Smithson Valley Rangers in the area round. The Eagles were lead by running back Andrew Charlebois, who’s once again looking to tear up defenses.

But Head Coach Ben Bitner, Charlebois and the Eagles know what the standard is at vets and even they would say it wasn’t met last season. It’s something they preached this offseason both to the returning starters and to the newcomers.
“I think we’re intentional about letting guys know that where they were at wasn’t good enough,” Bitner said. “We’ve got to get better every day and identify people that are going to compete.”
“I think we can do better at starting early and really executing the game plan,” Charlebois said.
Veterans Memorial opens the season on Friday, August 28th against an Edinburg Vela team the Eagles defeated in the first round last year.
