The Hurst-Euless-Bedford school district is selling 57 acres of undeveloped land at Harwood and Meadow Park Drive.
The school board voted last month to hire the real estate firm Lester & Lester to market the property, part of which is currently home to Bedford’s Bark Park and the Meadow Park Athletic Complex.
The school district will accept sealed bids until 2 p.m. Aug. 26, according to the notice on its website. In order for a bid to be accepted, the school district is requiring a cashier’s check of $100,000 from prospective buyers.
According to Tarrant Appraisal District records, the land is valued at $1,142,144.
The school district declined to comment about selling the Meadow Park land, which has mature trees and rolling hills.
Molly Fox, a spokeswoman for Bedford, said in an email the city isn’t planning to purchase the school district property.
She said the city’s Bark Park is still open, but Bedford has plans to create a new dog park.
“We have plans to create a new dog park, tentatively planned to be located next to our Parks and Recreation Department building, across from our Law Enforcement Center (PD). The City purchased that section of land years ago with the thought it would be needed in the future,” she said.
Fox added that plans for the dog park “are not finalized” and Bedford will release more information about the dog park and atheltic complex in the future.
