School districts across Southeast Texas are bracing for the release of the Texas Education Agency’s 2026 A-F accountability ratings, which the state says will post online starting Friday, Aug. 14, at noon.
The ratings, which reflect performance during the 2025-2026 school year, grade every public school district and campus in the state on a letter-grade scale from A to F. TEA bases the scores on a mix of factors, including STAAR test results, student growth, graduation rates, and how well students are prepared for college, careers or the military after graduation.
Districts across Jefferson, Tyler, Hardin, Liberty and other surrounding counties are among those waiting on results, along with families and school boards who use the ratings to gauge how local campuses stack up against the rest of the state.
The release comes after a rocky stretch for the state’s accountability system. A legal challenge from several Texas school districts delayed the 2023-2024 ratings for more than a year, with those scores not finalized until December 2025 following a ruling from the Fifteenth Court of Appeals. TEA has said the accountability framework itself is unchanged heading into this year’s release.
Once posted, ratings for individual districts and campuses will be available to the public at TXschools.gov, where users can search by school name or address and compare results across campuses.
