For those who say San Antonio is boring, a new activity is on the way to cure some of those blues.
Game Show Battle Rooms is planning its first location in the Alamo City, according to a new regulatory filing with the Texas Department of Licensing and Registration. The national chain houses show rooms (also called arenas) for groups of eight to 64 players to compete in games that resemble popular shows like Family Feud, Wheel of Fortune and The Price Is Right. Other games are timed skill challenges or involve guessing your teammates’ answers to a question. Groups face off against each other in two teams with an hour to play three games, the website says.
According to Game Show Battle Rooms, there are three Texas locations in Austin, Dallas and Houston, as well as game show rooms in more than a dozen other cities across the country. The San Antonio arena, planned for the buzzing Landmark North development near La Cantera, will mark its first foray into the 210. The TDLR filing reveals an address just off Loop 1604 and I-10 in the same shopping center as the newly opened Sicilian Butcher and Pinthouse Pizza, as well as an upcoming Paris Baguette Bakery. There certainly won’t be any need to search for a post-game meal.
Other details from the filing give a small window into when it could open. The 3,700-square-foot project is expected to kick off construction on October 15, with an estimated end date of January 1, 2027. However, keep in mind that information in TDLR filings is subject to change. All in all, the filing puts a $700,000 price tag on the interior build-out, which will include a small bar and, of course, the game rooms, restrooms and exits.
Online, the chain lists Fall 2026 openings in Portland, Los Angeles and Las Vegas, as well as a 2027 debut in Des Moines, but San Antonio has yet to make an appearance, so it seems that its plans for the Alamo City are still pretty fresh. MySA reached out to Game Show Battle Rooms for more information but had not heard back at the time of publication.
