SAN ANTONIO – A Snapchat video allegedly showing a prominent San Antonio attorney engaging in sexual activity with two women and later handing one of them a stack of cash is at the center of a criminal case that led to his arrest on solicitation of prostitution and human trafficking charges, according to an arrest affidavit.

Neil Calfas, 56, was arrested Wednesday after Texas Department of Public Safety investigators raided the Calfas Law Group office along Broadway near East Houston Street. He is charged with solicitation of prostitution and human trafficking, according to Texas DPS.

According to the arrest affidavit, the investigation centers on Snapchat videos allegedly recorded in May 2024.

Investigators say one video depicted Calfas engaging in sexual activity with two women inside an office. Later in the video, Calfas is allegedly seen handing one of the women a stack of cash as a caption on the video read, “The deed is done,” according to the affidavit.

Court records state Snapchat location data indicated the video was recorded on or near the Broadway address of the Calfas Law Group.

Detectives reviewed thousands of Snapchat files during the investigation and said they uncovered evidence indicating both women were involved in commercial sex work. According to the affidavit, CashApp records also showed several payments from Calfas to one of the women beginning in 2023 and continuing into late 2024.

Members of the DPS Criminal Investigations Division were seen at Calfas’ law office early Wednesday. Investigators removed boxes, files, laptops and other evidence from the office and placed the items into a DPS patrol vehicle.

Calfas was taken into custody following the raid. According to the State Bar of Texas, he has been a licensed attorney since 1997.

Attorney Deborah Sandheinrich, who said she has known Calfas for 25 years, arrived at the scene and said she was shocked by the allegations.

“I’ve never heard any hint of any impropriety from him. He’s always just been a stand-up guy, hard worker, did really good work for his clients,” Sandheinrich said.

Another attorney with the firm told News 4 San Antonio by phone that he was surprised by the arrest and was not aware of Calfas being involved in any criminal activity.

Jail records show Calfas is being held on bonds totaling $110,000 for the two charges.
