The Fort Worth Temple for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now has an open house and dedication date, according to a news release.
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints said the free public open house, featuring tours of the temple, located near Southwest Hulen Street at 1851 Greenridge Drive in Burleson, will start Nov. 5 until Nov. 21, except on Sundays.
The temple’s dedication will be Sunday, Jan. 10, 2027, and will be broadcast to all congregations in the Fort Worth Temple district.
“The open house provides an opportunity for the public to tour the temple’s beautiful interior and grounds and learn about the purpose of this sacred structure,” the news release said.
The Church previously held a groundbreaking ceremony in October 2023. Fort Worth members of the Church are excited to have a location closer to home.
The last time the Church held an open house was 42 years ago at its Dallas temple. This new Fort Worth Temple will relieve members of a long drive to Dallas.
According to the news release, there are around 400,000 Latter-day Saints in Texas, with 756 congregations. The DFW Metroplex has nearly 100,000 members.
The Fort Worth Temple is the sixth in Texas, joining the Dallas, McAllen, Houston, Lubbock and San Antonio locations. The Church has four other temples under construction in Austin, Fairview, Missouri City and El Paso.
“We are thrilled to invite the entire North Texas community to come to the open house and see this beautiful new house of the Lord,” said Elder Brandon Ellison, the Church’s Area Seventy who oversees the greater Fort Worth region. “All are welcome! This temple represents our faith and hope in the promises of God the Father and His Beloved Son, Jesus Christ. Regardless of your faith tradition, we hope you will come take a tour and share a few minutes with us.”
Lydia Holt, Stake Relief Society president and leader of the Church’s Burleson-area women’s ministry, said in the news release that the temple would be “a place of refuge.”
“Anyone who steps onto the grounds of the temple with an open heart and open mind will feel the power of heaven and be drawn nearer to God,” Holt said.

According to the Church, temples are different from meetinghouses, where members gather for Sunday worship services. Each temple is considered a house of the Lord, where the teachings of Jesus Christ are reaffirmed through sacred ordinances, learning about life’s purpose and making covenants to follow Jesus Christ and serve others.
