SAN ANTONIO- Harry Aderholt, 70, alleges that an investment company misled him into signing over his house, leaving him homeless after the property was sold to a third party.
Aderholt, who was struggling with foreclosure, said representatives offered him a new mortgage with an 8% loan to help him out of debt.
“I felt lost, up a creek without a paddle,” Aderholt said. After signing the documents and making payments, he discovered his home had been sold, leading to his eviction last Friday.
His belongings were left on the lawn, and his pet bird, Pepper, now lives in his car.

Aderholt filed a police report and has received pro bono legal assistance.
Local officials note that such cases are part of a growing problem in Texas.
The county clerk’s office advises individuals to seek legal advice before signing documents and offers partnerships with legal service associations for free help.
Aderholt remains hopeful about reclaiming his home, saying, “That’s all I can do, just go with the flow.”
