Filming has begun on Nicole Kidman’s Dallas-set Paramount+ series.
The streamer announced Thursday that production is underway on “Discretion,” an eight-episode legal thriller adapted from Dallas-raised author Chandler Baker’s short story. The series will launch globally on Paramount+ in 2027.
Kidman and Elle Fanning will star in the series, a reunion from just earlier this year when they appeared together in “Margo’s Got Money Troubles.”

Filming on “Discretion” is slated for Dallas, New York and New Jersey, according to a company insider.
“Lenny (Fanning), a summer associate at a prestigious Dallas law firm, uncovers a web of NDAs masking a dark truth. When she realizes she signed the same agreement, her discoveries put her in the crosshairs of the firm’s most powerful female partner Sharon (Kidman) — upending their mentor-protégé dynamic and raising the question: who gets to keep secrets, and at what cost?” the show’s logline reads.

“Yellowstone” actor Josh Lucas was cast in “Discretion” last month as a lawyer and Kidman’s husband.
In Thursday’s announcement, Paramount+ also confirmed that Stephan James and Colton Ryan have joined the show. James will play a corporate associate and mentor to Fanning’s character, while Ryan will play her recovering addict ex-boyfriend.
Matt Shakman, who previously directed “The Fantastic Four: First Steps,” is directing the first four episodes of “Discretion.” The show also counts Shakman, Kidman, Fanning and Baker as executive producers.

“Discretion” is based on Baker’s time as a corporate lawyer negotiating “hundreds of NDAs a year.”
In a Facebook post last year, she said she wrote the short story in just two days.
“This is my dream project with a dream team and dream partners,” Baker wrote on Facebook when the show was announced in October 2025. “And thank you to everyone in my corner who didn’t take their eye off the ball on this one for even a second.”
“Discretion” will release on Paramount+ in 2027.
