A construction mishap has caused a gas leak near North Saginaw Boulevard in Saginaw, leading to road closures and heavy traffic.
SAGINAW, Texas — A construction crew damaged a natural gas pipeline Thursday in the 200 block of North Saginaw Boulevard in Saginaw, prompting a response from Atmos Energy crews and temporary road closures in the area.
Atmos Energy said the crew was not affiliated with the utility company. The damage happened near 125 North Saginaw Boulevard, according to Atmos.
Video shared on social media from the city showed the gas leak happened near a RaceTrac gas station.
As of 6:25 p.m., officials say the gas leak is secured and no longer leaking.
Saginaw Main Street was reduced to one lane in each direction but has since been reopened. The shoulder at Worthy Street remains closed as Atmos Energy crews continue repairs.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area, use alternate routes and slow down near emergency crews.
