LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – It’s a quiet and mild start to your Thursday, but for the first time in a while, we have chances of seeing some rain later this afternoon and evening for portions of the area!

THURSDAY
Hot and sunny. High temperatures will climb back into the low 100s for most of the South Plains this afternoon.
Another scorcher is in store for the afternoon hours(Dylan Smith)
A heat advisory is in effect for the eastern sections of the South Plains from 1pm to 8pm Thursday(Dylan Smith)
This heating will also lead to the potential for seeing some isolated showers and even a couple of storms/heavier downpours for some.
TONIGHT
Another mild and quiet night ahead. Low temperatures dip once again into the 70s with a mostly quiet radar and generally clear skies.
FRIDAY
A little bit of a changeup is on its way. We’ll keep a light chance for a few isolated showers but high temperatures are going to stay more in the upper 90s and less in the 100s for the afternoon.
We’ll see a marginally relaxed forecast as temperatures dip back to the mid to upper 90s for the next few days(Dylan Smith)
UPCOMING WEATHER PATTERN
More of the same, just without much in the way of any rain chances for the foreseeable future. High temperatures will remain somewhat relaxed in the mid to upper 90s mostly.

That’s still hot, just not quite AS hot as we’ve been the last few days.
