The city of Plano officially earned a spot among the state’s top employers, according to Forbes’ 2026 list of America’s Best Employers By State.
Plano ranked third among city employers in Texas and 72nd among all Texas employers included in the ranking.
How Plano Made The List
Forbes developed the annual rankings with market research firm Statista, surveying more than 245,000 employees at organizations with at least 500 workers across the country.
Employee feedback played a central role in determining the rankings. Workers evaluated their employers on factors including workplace culture, compensation, working conditions, safety, professional development, reputation and overall atmosphere. They were also asked whether they would recommend their employer to others.
The 2026 rankings include 1,365 employers nationwide.
For Plano, the recognition adds another accolade to a city that has become a major employment center in North Texas, particularly across the corporate, technology and financial sectors.
Plano Companies Also Stand Out
The city’s employer recognition comes as several Plano-based companies are also appearing prominently in career-focused rankings.
A recent LinkedIn ranking examining the companies offering the strongest opportunities for career growth in the Dallas-Fort Worth area included several major employers with Plano operations.
JPMorgan Chase ranked second on the list, while AT&T came in third. The telecommunications giant is preparing to move its global headquarters to a new 54-acre campus in Plano’s Legacy District.
Other Plano employers making the list include Bank of America and PepsiCo. Citi, which has a major presence in Irving, took the No. 1 spot.
As Plano continues to attract corporate investment and major headquarters relocations, the city’s recognition as an employer itself adds another dimension to its reputation as a North Texas business hub.
