Austin-area school districts get their state report card

While Austin ISD might be taken over by the state, its neighboring school districts are faring better.

KUT News reviewed state accountability scores from 17 other Austin-area districts, including those in Hays, Williamson, Caldwell, Bastrop and Travis counties. None of those districts have a campus that has five consecutive failing grades, the trigger that allows for a state takeover.

Bastrop ISD has the most F-rated schools with five. Del Valle and Leander had the second and third highest number of F-rated schools with four and two, respectively. Del Valle was the only district out of the 17 that had an overall D-grade.

Lake Travis and Eanes ISD were the only two local districts to get an A.

Elgin and Manor ISDs are the closest to having five consecutive failing grades for a single campus.

School districts still have the chance to appeal these grades. The final scores will be released in December.
