The Texas Department of Transportation plans to widen Interstate 30 in Fort Worth.

The proposal would widen the highway along a nearly nine-mile stretch, from West Loop 820 to Camp Bowie Boulevard. The construction through Benbrook, Fort Worth, Westover Hills and White Settlement.

The project would add two lanes, bringing the highway to eight total. Frontage roads would be rebuilt, major interchanges upgraded and bike and pedestrian accommodations improved.

According to TXDoT, the project would reduce congestion and help accommodate future demand.

There will be a virtual public hearing for the expansion on the TXDoT website on from 10 a.m. to midnight Aug. 18, and an in-person hearing from 5 to 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Education Service Center, 1451 S. Cherry Lane, White Settlement.
