HOUSTON — Kajiken, a Japanese abura soba chain, is coming to Houston’s Chinatown.
Abura soba is a soupless style of ramen dressed in sauce and oil rather than broth.
According to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation filing, the restaurant will occupy about 2,155 square feet at 9108 Bellaire Blvd. in the D-Square shopping center, also known as Diho Square. It will be next to South Korea-based bakery café Paris Baguette.

Beatrice Wong, managing director and co-owner of D-Square, told the Houston Business Journal the restaurant is unlikely to open before 2027.
The TDLR filing values the build-out at $150,000 and lists the work as a renovation converting a former vegetarian restaurant into a Japanese ramen restaurant. The former restaurant was Pine Forest Vegetarian, which Wong said had been a tenant since 2004 and closed last year. TDLR filings contain preliminary information, which is subject to change.
