As new and returning students prepare for the semester, there are a few essentials every Roadrunner should know to make navigating campus a little easier.
UT San Antonio identification
Students, faculty and staff returning to campus this fall may have noticed the university ID card has a new look. An essential part of every Roadrunner’s experience, the university ID card is the official identification for UT San Antonio’s academic campuses and provides access to meal plans, reloadable Rowdy Dollars for on-campus purchases, residence halls, athletic events, transportation and more. Students, faculty and staff who need a new or replacement ID card can visit Campus Services on the Main and Downtown campuses.
Parking at UT San Antonio
A valid university parking permit or hourly parking payment is required to park at UT San Antonio’s campuses. A variety of permits are available for students, faculty and staff on the academic campuses, including garage, surface and reserved parking options.
Beginning this academic year, new Accessible Student and Accessible Employee parking permits are being introduced to strengthen eligibility and accountability for the use of ADA parking spaces while supporting reliable access for those who need them.
For visitors and Roadrunners who only come to campus occasionally, hourly paid parking is available in Main Campus garages, ParkMobile surface spaces and through Parkquility in designated Downtown Campus locations.
For those with an academic campus permit who need to park at both the academic and health campuses, reciprocal parking is available in designated locations. Visit Campus Services to learn more.
Traveling between classes
UT San Antonio’s campus shuttle systems, The Runner and The Little Runner, make getting around the Main and Downtown campuses fast and easy. The Runner provides transportation from outer parking lots and nearby apartment complexes to the heart of Main Campus.
The Little Runner operates on a continuous circular route that stops at each of the university’s downtown locations, meaning a shuttle is always coming by soon during service hours. Riders can track both services using The Runner GPS app.
UT San Antonio also partners with VIA Metropolitan Transit to provide free public transit options to students, faculty and staff on the academic and health campuses through the VIA U-Pass program. With their VIA U-Pass, Roadrunners can access free, unlimited VIA bus service as well as on-demand rides in the VIA Link Mainland and Downtown Zones.

Rowdy plans provide a set number of meals per semester and are designed for students who live off campus or who prefer a more structured option.
All plans include Dining Dollars and Meal Trades, which can be used at any UT San Antonio Dining location.
This fall, two new dining locations have opened. Choolaah Indian BBQ at the Main Campus Student Union offers bold new flavors and customizable menu items. At the Downtown Campus, Creekside Market provides a new grab-and-go option for busy Roadrunners at San Pedro II.
