Harris County deputies have access to Flock system suspended pending an internal investigation. The news comes after a reporter inquiry about potentially questionable uses of the system.
Just last week, a judge ruled a Pasadena officer will not face criminal prosecution accused of misusing the technology, accused of stalking a co-worker. Sgt. Michael Palitz resigned amid an internal probe back in September 2025.
Flock Safety has come under scrutiny for privacy concerns, and law enforcement officers in Baytown and Fort Bend County are also being investigated for abusing the technology.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says in total, it manages 20 Flock Safety license plate reader networks with a combined total of 480 cameras.
