Another phase of construction of the DFW Discovery Trail will begin in October 2028.
The over 63-mile trail will connect Dallas, Fort Worth, Arlington, Grand Prairie and Irving.
Construction will occur mostly in Grand Prairie and will add a 12-foot wide hike and bike trail, a pedestrian bridge, storm improvements, driveway replacements and striping along the street.
The new section of trail will connect the CentrePort Station Trail to the existing Mike Lewis Trail, and will be about 1.8 miles in length.
Grand Prairie’s portion of the trail will connect to the Good Link Trail via the Mike Lewis Trail in Mike Lewis Park, then run north along Roy Orr Boulevard, and head west along Trinity Boulevard as it crosses into Fort Worth, a spokesperson for the city of Grand Prairie told the Star-Telegram.
The project will cost nearly $16.7 million and is expected to be completed October 2029.
“This reinforces our commitment to investing in the health and wellness of our Grand Prairie residents and visitors,” the spokesperson said.
