A new state-of-the-art firefighting facility will help protect passengers at Dallas Love Field using advanced technology.
The city and airport held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Station 21. The 33,400-square-foot building replaces one built in the 1960s.
“It’s safe to say this facility is the only one like this, not only in the metro, but also in Texas. Likely the only one like this in the world with all the innovation that’s put into it,” said Dallas Fire-Rescue Chief Justin Ball.
It will be home to a “first in the world” electric air rescue firefighting truck according to Patrick Carreno, the city’s Director of Aviation at Love Field.
“This is the second-largest air rescue firefighting station in the state of Texas, fourth biggest in the country,” Carreno said.
The new station also houses simulators and other training facilities, as well as on-site vehicle maintenance.
