SAN ANTONIO – A woman was critically injured early Saturday morning after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 10 in San Antonio, according to police.

The incident happened around 1:29 a.m. near I-10 and Wurzbach Parkway

According to the San Antonio Police Department, the woman was running in the northbound lanes of the highway, where pedestrians are prohibited.

The driver of a white Audi spotted the woman and was able to stop in time to avoid hitting her. A Toyota Camry traveling behind the Audi then crashed into the rear of the Audi.

The impact redirected the Camry onto the left shoulder, where it struck the woman. She was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation. No charges will be filed.
