A dead mouse was found at one Dallas food establishment during Aug. 2-8 health inspections, and rodent nesting material and fleas were found at others, according to data from the city compiled by the Star-Telegram.

Dallas food establishments are scored on a 100-point system that is different from Fort Worth. A range of 100-90 is considered very good. Restaurants that score from 69-60 fail and must undergo a follow-up inspection within 10 days or face closure. Establishments scoring between 79 and 70 pass but require a follow-up inspection within 30 days.

No restaurants failed this round of inspections, but seven required a follow-up:

Musume Dallas at 2330 Flora St. scored 70 on Aug. 5. The inspector found a moldy Serrano pepper, raw meat stored above ready-to-eat food and several foods stored at an unsafe temperature. A small roach was also seen in the kitchen.

Dickey’s Barbecue Pit at 2919 Forest Lane scored 71 on Aug. 4. The inspector noted a dirty ice dispenser, rodent nesting material and roaches on some of the equipment. There were several holes in the walls where pests could get in, according to the report.

Don Sebas Taqueria at 111 Continental Ave. scored 72 on Aug. 7. The employees weren’t wearing hair restraints, some dry foods weren’t labeled and there was a flea infestation underneath the mop sink.

Gymkhana Indian Restaurant and Bar at 1408 Main St. scored 73 on Aug. 5. The inside of the microwave was dirty, raw chicken was sitting out at room temperature and utensils were stored on the floor.

Sloane’s Corner at 2001 Ross Ave. scored 73 on Aug. 5. The microwave and can opener were dirty, a cooler wasn’t working properly and some boxes of food were stored on the ground.

Yolk Restaurant at 1722 Routh St. scored 78 on Aug. 6. The grease trap was in need of cleaning, there was debris in the ice machine and some thermometers were damaged.

Tanpopo Japanese Kitchen at 921 W. Commerce St. scored 79 on Aug. 4. Detergent was stored next to the rice, food containers weren’t labeled and there was a buildup of dirt and grease behind the stove.

Roaches were found at several establishments, including: Bubala Cafe and Grill at 17479 Preston Road, Gold Coast Cafe at 8360 Lyndon B Johnson Freeway and San Miguel Restaurant at 10788 Harry Hines Blvd.

Bus Zini’s at 2115 Butler St. received a high score of 93 on Aug. 5, but the inspector found a dead mouse on a sticky trap.

Happiest Hour at 2616 Olive St. scored 82 on Aug. 7. The inspector found a moldy strawberry, mildew inside the ice machine and flies at the main bar. Water from a leaking pipe inside the freezer had also fallen onto some of the food.

A total of 31 establishments, including Whataburger at 6232 Retail Road and Whole Foods Market at 2510 McKinney Ave., received a perfect score of 100.
