HOUSTON – A bomb threat called in to Houston police prompted a temporary ground hold and security screening at William P. Hobby Airport on Saturday evening.

Houston Police Department watch command received a call at 6:29 p.m. reporting suspicious activity. The caller stated a husband was acting strangely and made a bomb threat referencing the airport. One Southwest Airlines flight was subjected to a security screening at the request of local law enforcement.

“We had some brief holding of flights on the ground as one flight was subject to security screening at the request of local law enforcement,” said Chris Perry, Southwest Airlines media relations. “We’ll defer to Houston PD for anything additional they wish to share, but our operations are rolling again at HOU.”

HPD is continuing to investigate. No additional details about the outcome of the security screening have been released.
