The 1877 Tall Ship Elissa sails to a homecoming celebration after a months-long journey in Galveston, Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026. Elissa, the Official Tall Ship of Texas, returned home to Galveston after completing a 66-day voyage of more than 5,000 miles, participating in the nation’s America250 and Sail250 commemorations. The historic ship made a number of ports of call along the east coast during the journey, including Boston and New York of the Independence Day celebrations, marking the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence.
