LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) – The Lubbock Christian Eagles are only one of two area teams to have earned a state title in 2025. Last year, LCHS was anchored by an explosive offense that scored 40+ points in ten games. Once they reached the TAPPS Division III state championship game, they were able to overcome Dallas Christian 36-30 for their first state title since 2022.
Helping them defend the championship will be Sam Collins, who has been the program’s long-time offensive coordinator. He replaces Chris Softley, who left in December for a head coaching job at UTPB.
“He left this in such a good spot. Our assistant coaches, the structure here, the administration in the school, are in such a good spot that there wasn’t a lot of rebuilding,” Collins said. “And, we have such a good senior class. Our kids know the standard, so it really has been fun just to kind of get to jump in and the train really has not slowed down.”
Key returners include: QB Jackson Doyle, Braxton Adams, Kamal Adkins, Hudson Campbell, Brylan Cunningham, Drew Classen, Axel Grellhesl, Cole Hawley, Elan Martinez, Paden McCuaig, Ethan Mendez, Dominic Olivas, Levi Patton, Ryan Richardson, and Parker Wallach.
