H-E-B jalapeño recall includes dozens of store-branded products

An H-E-B supplier is recalling products containing jalapeño peppers due to potential salmonella contamination. NatureBest products with peppers supplied by Coast Citrus Distributors are affected by the recall, which was issued Friday, August 14, on the H-E-B website.

NatureBest Precut & Produce LLC, which has facilities in Missouri City and Houston, distributed the products to retail customers in Texas and Louisiana from July 3, 2026, to August 5, 2026, according to H-E-B’s recall page. 

The grocery retailer said all products related to the recall were removed from shelves, and all products currently available at the store are safe and unaffected by the recall.

Coast Citrus Distributors notified NatureBest that certain jalapeño peppers supplied by the company were part of a recall under investigation by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Multiple illnesses in a multistate salmonella outbreak were linked to jalapeños from Sinaloa, Mexico. 

H-E-B said that NatureBest has halted distribution of all affected products and is working with its supplier and regulators regarding the recall.

If you purchased one of the affected products, you should not consume it and either throw it away or return it to the place where you purchased it. 

Symptoms of salmonella, which can cause serious and sometimes deadly infections in vulnerable populations, include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain.
