Dallas is coming soon to a television near you.
Legal thriller Discretion, which is set at a prestigious Dallas law firm, has begun production, Paramount+ announced Thursday. The eight-episode series will star Nicole Kidman as a partner and Elle Fanning as a summer associate who clash over “a web of NDAs masking a dark truth,” according to the news release. Josh Lucas will co-star and Stephan James and Colton Ryan will play supporting roles.
Paramount did not immediately answer a question on whether the series will shoot in Dallas. The series is expected to premiere on Paramount+ in 2027, per the release.
Discretion is an adaptation of a short story from Dallas-born author Chandler Baker, who is an executive producer and writer on the project. She grew up in Lake Highlands until she moved to Florida at the age of 10. Baker later went to law school at UT Austin and worked in Dallas for a major sports team, according to her website. Her 2019 novel Whisper Network was a New York Times bestseller and a selection for Reese Witherspoon’s book club.
Matt Shakman, who directed Marvel projects WandaVision and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, will direct the first four episodes of Discretion and serve as an executive producer. Susannah Grant, who received an Oscar nomination for her writing in Erin Brockovich, will also be an executive producer.
Production company A24 will produce the show, which will follow recent TV successes in Season 2 of Netflix’s Beef, Season 3 of HBO’s Euphoria and Apple TV’s Margo’s Got Money Troubles, which also starred Fanning. All of those projects received Emmy nominations in 2026.
