EL PASO, TEXAS (KFOX14/CBS4) — Thousands of people are spending Saturday evening without electricity as utility crews work to restore power following widespread outages.

According to El Paso Electric’s Outage Map, about 7,000 customers are without power across the utility’s grid, thousands of those affected are in Montana Vista and Homestead Meadows.

KFOX14/CBS4 reached out to El Paso Electric to see what the cause of the outages may be.
